Hound wood, also called hon-duras, is an extremely dense and thus very hard and durable wood of the rosewood family. Its fine spiral grain ranges from light to almost black brown. It originates from controlled forest cultivation in Central America and is felled in a so-called "eco logging system", (see note)

Oak, one of the hardest woods in our region of the world. The dense structure of this wood, combined with the discreet light brown colour is a real speciality of nature. The wood comes from Germany and Eastern Europe.

This means that first only trunks of a certain diameter are used secondly that oxen are used to
transport the wood from the forest thus avoiding the felling of forest-aisles make room for large
vehicles and machines.
